IAS Briefing held by Joachim Bendig (called Achim), IAS Membership office EU, in copenhagen 4th July 2003

This briefing was originated by Achim when speaking to Erland Møller (old timer, Danish Scientologist) about how to get the field activated. Erland's answer was that the field needs to know what happened in the early eighties when everything crashed. Achim said he knew and would be happy to brief on it and so Erland called some other old timers together. The briefing was held on Erland's bus. An old Volvo he bought and fixed up.

Achim told his own story. He was the one who started Stuttgart Mission and build it up to 160 staff and 200 publics on service lines. Then he build 13 more missions under Stuttgart. In 1981-82 he was subject to finance police and the whole thing crashed down to only 40 staff. He went to see ED Int, Guillaume Lesevre, with one of his Mission ED's. ED Int gave a target and shouted that he wanted compliance within 48 hours otherwise the Mission ED would be SP Declared. Achim said, at that point he got the thought that ED Int was an SP. Later he found that ED Int was upstat and therefore decided that he was not an SP anyway. Achim himself eventually went off lines. Later he was recovered to do FPRD and cognited that he had his own reasons for his disaffection.

His story of what happened in 1981-82

Management was infiltrated by SP's who did the job of finance police and other suppressive stunts. Top Management did not know what was happening as nobody dared to report it. The SRA procedure (Severe Reality Adjustment = Gang Sec-Check), the monetary rip-off of missions and Class IV orgs, intimidations of staff (that they would be declared or would never be allowed the OT levels if they didn't comply) was completely unknown to Int Management and they had basically no clue of all the suppression that started as they took over management. While Achim himself might believe this is true, fact is that it is an outright lie, just read SO ED 2104 INT, and you will no longer doubt who actually started all the suppression. The very guys who is still top of the pop.

According to Achim, all the SP's have now been declared and measures been taken to make sure the same situation can't happen again. I asked Achim, why the orgs had not recovered since the right WHY was found, but he couldn't answer.

My general Tech understanding is that the situation resolves if the right WHY is found. Therefore the right WHY has not been found. Achims story, no matter how good it sounds, does NOT give the correct WHY. The orgs, at least in DK, are nowhere near the range the had before early eighties. They crashed as the new management took over, and they haven't recovered since.

Achim further explained that the reason why his explanation has not been clearly communicated, is that IAS is deciding who to tell the truth and who not to tell the truth. This is to protect people from going PTS, he said. They do the same in Russia "We don't let the staff know that the orgs are about to be banned, they will just go PTS". That's the manipulative attitude of IAS and Achim clearly didn't see anything wrong in that.

He also told about the ED Hamburg (Hildegard) who was declared because IAS could not get her publics to sign up for life time memberships. She was declared and the result was stats crashing all over the org. I asked Achim how it could be that stats crash if they got the right person and he said that there were more SP's amongst the Execs, and that they should just have declared some more to really clean up. This shows that the same early eighties dramatisation of just declaring everybody who don't conform, is still the way Management think. There has been no real change.

When asked about why all the unjustly declared staff and publics hasn't come back on lines, he said that they should just have accepted the general amnesty in the early nineties to get back in good standing and get their declares revoked. But here is another out point; Why would a person who has been busted by a suppressive Management, come back and submit his O/W's to that same Management and apply for reinstatement in the group still run by that Management? Would you? Nope, I don't think so. I wouldn't. Well, the amnesty's certainly serve the purpose of making Management look like they care, but what are they actually worth?

I noticed that while explaining some local situation, he mentioned Denmark as "a country where faggots can get married". This derogative attitude towards homosexuals is certainly widespread within the Sea Org.

Achim also told about how he used to illegally transport huge amounts of cash over the boarders. At one time he was almost caught in customs and IAS decided to find another way of moving the cash.

A question arose about who was actually IAS, and who is behind. Achim said IAS is us, it is you, it is all the members. But when asked who controls IAS he could only say that he did not know. He did not know who the leaders were and there is no financial insight like annual reports, budgets or how the money are spend. He said this was for security reasons.

So in actual fact, IAS is us, all the members, but we are not allowed to know who our leaders are. We are not allowed to know how much money is being made and how they are spend. Clearly this is no ordinary association. In this one, the members only has the rights to donate money and participate in glamourous patron dinners. That's about all. For the rest we have to count on leaders we do not know, without any knowledge of how they spend the associations (the members) money. See an out point here?
